    Rosalyn P. (Scott) Ferguson, MD, MSHA is a graduate of Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, New York University School of Medicine, and the University of Colorado College of Business. Dr. Ferguson completed her general surgery training in New York City and her thoracic surgery training at Boston University and Texas Heart Institute. As the first female African-American thoracic surgeon in the United States, breaking barriers in one of the most demanding specialties in medicine has given her unique insights into the pursuit of excellence and how to best support students and trainees. She has been active in both medical school admissions and residency selection.

    Dr. Ferguson has held professorships in both medicine and engineering. Her research interests have spanned cardiovascular disease, health equity, technology, and simulation. She is a long-time participant in NBME US Medical Licensing Examination (USMLE) committees and has served as president of Women in Thoracic Surgery.

    Fun Fact
    Dr. Ferguson is a dedicated golfer who has dragged clubs in cars, planes, and trains to golf around the world. The most thrilling of her escapades was both presenting at an international meeting and playing golf in St. Andrew's in Scotland—the birthplace of the game.
